History

The Obertura Mexicana was composed as an opening piece for the tour of Rolando Villazón and the Bolivar Soloists to promote the CD ¡México!. It was premiered, in its chamber music form, in Mexico City in July 2010.
The piece was orchestrated and extended in 2012 for an educational program of the Bolivar Soloists for the Youth Orchestra Carlos Chávez in Mexico City, where it had its first performance.
