Double Bass Concerto
Performed by:
Edicson Ruiz - Double Bass
WDR Orchester
Alondra de la Parra - Conductor
History
The first version of this concerto composed in 2017 is titled "Venezuelan Baroque No. 4" and is part of a series of concerts in which Efrain combines elements of Baroque music with those of traditional Venezuelan music. In this version, the harpsichord plays an important role in the accompaniment, especially providing rhythmic stability to certain sections. In the 2018 version for full orchestra "Concert for Double Bass and Orchestra," The harpsichord still serves as a bridge between classical/Baroque music and Venezuelan folk music, representing the guitar and harp within the orchestra.
